I love this place. If I had to choose a bar in Los Angeles, I’m choosing this place (or the Tar Pit).

First off, the look of the place is just gorgeous, dark and intimate. You don’t feel like a guilty drunk having a drink there. The bartenders and staff are all friendly, not a “you don’t belong here” glint in anyone’s eye. No, they want and appreciate your business.

It’s dark and intimate…or romantic if that’s where your needs take you (and they have). I’ve also sauntered up to the bar with a buddy and talked about the Oakland Athletics after a movie.

And should your tastes turn to such, they actually have a pretty nice restaurant in the back. So move your drink in there and continue your evening in style.

WHAT SHOULD I GET?: Last time I was int he dining room, and just the dining room, I got the Grilled Marinated Skirt Steak, which comes with Veggies and Yukon Gold Mashed Potatoes. If I go back, I’m probably having it again.

PARKING: Well, here’s your problem. It’s Hollywood, and just about everywhere you go, you’re going to paying for parking. Of course, more than likely, if you’ve come to this neck of the woods, you’re here for a movie, so you’re parking at the Arclight. Bad news is that none of the outside restaurants validate. There’s also a garage on the same block as Magnolia, which also services Go Burger, Off Vine, Bodega. You can slip in there for a Valet Charge. Other than that, you can try the street.
