Lunasia Chinese Cuisine
loading…
First class Dim Sum (and food in general) in Alhambra…if you can’t get into Mission or Elite.
Lunasia suffers only in comparison to other Chinese places, competing as it does on the same playing field with places like Mission 261 and Elite. If you’ve been to either, you know, that ain’t no level playing field.
Still, judged on its own merits (which are considerable) Lunasia is very good. It’s got a nice modern design, attentive service, and good food. What more do you want? Lunasia is as safe a bet as safe bets go.
If you want to see the classics done right, if you’re wandering into the world of Chinese cooking for the first time, and want everything done the right way in a exceptionally nice setting, you go to Lunasia.
WHAT SHOULD I GET?: Dim-Sum, for sure, if you’re there. But I sure do remember me some Pan-Fried Noodles I had there. I hope they’re still on the menu, since Lunasia is updating their Website as of January 14th, 2012.
IMPORTANT SAFETY TIP, PEOPLE: Despite my waxing on and on and on about other restaurants in this space, if I had a date, if I had someone I wanted to impress, Lunasia is the choice. The atmosphere there is just that nice.
PARKING: Easy as can be. Lunasia is in a structure with its own free lot. That being said, if you come late enough, it will fill up, and you’ll be parking on the street (South 5th Street comes to mind). This has only happened to me once, after discovering, the hard way that Mission 261 had closed (it has since reopened).
