Is It Any Good?

Caribbean cooking…and I mean the good stuff…right here in North Hollywood.

Coley's Caribbean American Cuisine on Urbanspoon

This is my favorite Caribbean Place in town. Now, that’s not to say anything against Cha Cha Cha, and it’s sure not anything against Prado. Those place are still great, but this place is far closer (to me in Burbank/Glendale), it has a killer lunch special, and its the real stuff, the good stuff.

The Lunch Special is fantastic, not only because of its spicy, tasty goodness, but because its actually small, as in decently sized for a normal human being, not someone looking to compete in the hot-dog eating contest at Coney Island.  I don’t think this sized plate is valued enough in American dining.  At Coley’s you spend ten bucks, you have a small plate of Jerk Chicken, and you’re good to go, without being stuffed.

WHAT SHOULD I GET?: Well, I’m having the Jammin’ Jerk Chicken (their words). But there is a magnificent selection of West Indian specialties on display.

IMPORTANT SAFETY TIP, PEOPLE: Coley’s Caribbean Kitchen should not be confused with the equally wonderful Cooley’s Caribbean Kitchen way out in Inglewood.  Also, the prices came up a little bit in the new year (2012), but its still a great value.

PARKING: Rarely does parking come any easier. Coley’s has their own lot. Pull up in the back and there should be plenty of space (at least during lunch hours).
