A lovely little Vietnamese Bistro in Eagle Rock.

Quaint is the word I’d use to describe Lemongrass. It opened not too long after Blue Hen. What I liked most about them (just a bit more than Blue Hen down the street) was that they have a bigger menu, and thus a lot more varieties of Vietnamese food available. They even have three kinds of Banh Mi, which is always a good thing. Still, the one kind I want remains available to me, only via long plane ride to the mainland.

You want an example of what a Banh Mi is all about?

“Is there anything the addition of a gratuitous egg doesn’t make better?”
-Anthony Bourdain.

Anyway, back to Lemongrass has the feel of a neighborhood joint. It’s just a few tables, but they do good business…good enough so despite the fact that its never balls-to-the-wall crowded, you can still get a table.

WHAT SHOULD I GET?: The Pho isn’t bad (it’s still pretty good) but it’s not the reason to go. Go to Lemongrass to try the Vietnamese Dishes you haven’t tried at the Pho-centric places like Pho Citi and Saigon Noodle. Like the Charbroiled Pork Over Steamed Rice. Next time I’m going back, I’m trying the Banh Mi. It’s not as wonderlicious as the video, but they’re looking mighty good to me.
