The highest end Coffee Shop and Chop House right in the heart of Beverly Hills.
Remember the first time Al Pacino and Robert DeNiro ever appeared onscreen together?
Does this refresh your memory?
That was in 1995’s Heat, a scene between Cop and Robber, discussing their lives and philosophies…and it was shot at Kate Mantilini’s, open since 1987. (And in case you forget, the Restaurant has dozens of photographs reminding you of their place in Hollywood History. So don’t worry, you’ll have plenty of reminders).
The restaurant itself is nice. Think the highest end Coffee Shop in existence, right in the heart of Beverly Hills, and you get the idea. The menu is straight American food, Burgers, fries, Steaks, Chops, but prepared well, making it worth your time and money…and because of its location, highly convenient when you want something good and inexpensive in Beverly Hills.
WHAT SHOULD I GET?: It’s been a while since I’ve been there, but I remember the “Little Hollywood” Filet Mignon Sandwich on a grilled Garlic butter bun. Yeah. Yum. But if that doesn’t appeal to you, or your wallet, virtually any of the burgers are first class.
IMPORTANT SAFETY TIP, PEOPLE: Parking…difficult. The last time I went, I parked at the nearby Writer’s Guild Theater Parking Garage, which…you probably won’t able to get into. (Actually, you may be able to, but it’ll cost you an arm an a leg). It’s across the street and down N. Doheny a bit. There seems to be some kind of garage attached to the Kate’s building, right near the entrance, so that may be your best bet.
