Is It Any Good?

An honest to God, all Vegan place in North Hollywood. (C’mon, this is California after all.)

It’s long overdue that I put a Vegetarian/Vegan Restaurant here on the list, so here goes.

Speaking as a dedicated Carnivore (have you visited this website yet??), it’s a little amazing that I’d like any place that served nothing but veggies. But hey, I like Souplantation, and I certainly have my fair share of Vegetarian buds, and every one of them that I’ve taken to this place has enjoyed the heck out of it.

It’s basically a Thai/Asian Restaurant that prepares all its dishes, including ones to allegedly include meat (like their “Chicken” Nuggets) with tofu and other preparations that make them taste so much like the real thing, you won’t miss them.  It’s a small, charming little place that gives you a healthy break from the world of pulled pork and sizzling steaks…

Ummm….steak.

Sorry. Couldn’t resist.

UPDATE: January 23, 2013:  Lotus Vegan has moved to a new location in North Hollywood.  It’s not to far from the old location.  This entry has been amended to reflect their new, and apparently spacious, surroundings.

Lotus Vegan (New)

WHAT SHOULD I GET?: Just to screw with you, I’m going to recommend what I get every time I go there, which is the Orange Chicken.

That’s right, I said Orange…Chicken.

YES! I know it’s not Chicken.  Can you please let me screw with the vegetarians in peace already?

IMPORTANT SAFETY TIP, PEOPLE: Okay, I did mention Lotus Vegan was a Vegan place right? So when you look up and down the menu, and see things like Chicken or Beef Teriyaki or Orange Chicken…you know what to expect, right? There won’t be a lick of chicken or beef in the thing. It may take like meat…but it ain’t meat.

PARKING: It is all Street all the time. Parking on Vineland? Forgetaboutit. There’ll be spaces, but they’ll be taken. Try the side streets of Otsego or Hesby.

UPDATE: January 23, 2013:  Okay, new location, new parking recommendations.  I leave it to Lotus Vegan’s own website to make them:

Only 2 minutes from the old location, a half block past Camarillo Street, opposite ‘Just Tires’.
Park your car at the back side of the restaurant.

Oh. Well, that’s easy.
