Is It Any Good?

A nice, a very nice Mozzarella Bar in Century City.

I swear to you, I thought Obika Mozzarella Bar was Japanese. “Obika” kinda looks so much like a Japanese word.

But, boy was I wrong, Obika is pure Italian and serves up fine wines, fine cheeses, and really good Ricotta desserts.

It’s a nice, intimate place…for someplace inside a Mall. I mean…a mall. Instead of hoofing around with the noveau riche, and their hot-hot girlfriends-slash-arm candy, you can duck in here and get away from it all.

If you’re hanging out at the AMC Century, which after my Avengers Experience I don’t recommend, and you’re with a date, this is the place to go. It’s got wine and it’s comfortably vegetarian, if that’s how you and your date roll. I found it to be an amazingly comfortable place to sit down and get away from it all. The Waitstaff know their stuff, so feel free to ask them about wines or cheese or whatever they got on the menu.

WHAT SHOULD I GET?: Well, cheese for one, and Wine for another. I tried a white Greek wine they had on sale. We followed that up with a Mousse di Ricotta, which is a mousse made of Ricotta cheese, then slathered with Honey, Orange Peel and Pine Nuts. Worth…every…bite.

Now, I should say, this is one of the more vegetarian friendly places in Los Angeles. There is very little meat to be found on the menu, but it’s not totally absent. Vegetarians should be very, very happy here.

PARKING: Once again, you’re trapped in that festival of damned, that infernal fire pit, the Century City Mall Parking Garage. Always there, always expensive, always crowded.
