Fantastic, fantastic Lebanese Cuisine in Glendale.
I use the term neighborhood joint at lot, but I really mean it in this case. People living here just walk on over to get themselves the Lebanese Family-style good stuff.
Skaf’s Lebanese Cuisine was originally elsewhere in North Hollywood. The original was in a much larger space, but I think they made a wise to come to their core audience in Glendale. Plus, the Restaurant is a lot nicer than the old one. (They even got a Matisse display at one end…of course that was from the Coffee Hut that failed before Skaf’s Lebanese moved in).
What you get at Skaf’s is a complete slice of Lebanese home cooking. Great Kabobs, fantastic Hummus, this absolutely addictive Cabbage Salad, and in nicely-sized portions that won’t have you waddle out the front door.
WHAT SHOULD I GET?: Yet another place I go to with Frog on the Menu. If you’re seeking safer ground to work with, there are always their wonderful Kabob’s. Their Hummus is second only to Zankous, in my humble opinion. And everything comes with their fantastic rice, and that Cabbage Salad.
IMPORTANT SAFETY TIP, PEOPLE: Once again (and this is becoming a theme among my last couple of postings), this is a place sans Website.
PARKING: There is a small lot (maybe a dozen spaces, tops) out back, but the lot services three other small stores in the same mini-strip mall Skaf’s resides it. Failing that, you can park along North Chevy Chase or Verdugo. Be mindful, this is a Residential Neighborhood, so there are a LOT of cars on the streets competing with you.
