A Prime-Rib joint that’s been a Hollywood mainstay since World War II.
There are a lot of things one could say about The Smoke House. The food is pretty good. Not out of this world good, but good. They cut a nice prime rib. But that’s not the reason you’re going. There are probably better places for Prime Rib or Barbecue. You’re coming to the Smoke House for the ambiance, for a little taste of Hollywood yesteryear, and that is worth the trip.
Step through those doors, and it’s like stepping onto the set of Mad Men…only you know, they take Credit Cards and Black people can get in.
It style and décor are forever frozen in amber, hopefully never to change. That is totally a good thing, especially as more and more of places like these are being lost to time, and the whims of an unappreciative clientele.
WHAT SHOULD I GET?: Well, the Prime Rib for one, for two or for three. Also, definitely their Garlic Bread.
Also, full credit to whoever revamped their website. It looks spectacular.
PARKING: No sweat, baby. The Smoke House has got its own parking lot, thought it is Valet-powered. There is limited street parking, so keep aware of neighborhood ordinances (aka Street signs telling you where and when you can park).
