Is It Any Good?

Plaques mounted in tribute to your favorite stars…in the sidewalk…in Hollywood. Yay.

I guess it’s something you “have” to do if you’re visiting Hollywood for the first time.

I guess you can do this, especially if you’re definition of “doing” something is as loose as it seems.

Apparently, people from all over the world, flock to Hollywood to stand over a plaque embedded into the concrete. Yee-frickin’-Ha.

Stuff like this just brings out the cynic in me.

If you really want to do it, and it means that much to you? Here is a Database maintained by the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce.

Guess what it doesn’t have? Their location.

Y’see, the Walk of Fame actually stretches up and down a LOT of Hollywood Boulevard. Just showing up in front of the old Chinese Theater isn’t going to do you a lot of good when you’re favorite start might be a mile and a half away.

So if you really want to find your favorite star, go to Wikipedia. They had foresight enough to put Addresses alongside the names of your favorite movie and TV Stars.

IMPORTANT SAFETY TIP, PEOPLE: Let’s be honest, the Walk of Fame? It’s a marketing scheme. As I write thie, approximately three hours ago, Scarlett Johansson got herself a Star on the Walk of Fame. Now, Scarlett Johansson is a genuinely talented actress. She is an actual, bona-fide big-time Hollywood movie star…

…but also she’s got a movie coming out on this coming Friday, May 4th. Coincidence?? I don’t think so.

So yeah, you can do it. Why you would actually want to is anyone’s guess.

There’s no single address for the Walk-of-Fame, as it stretches 15 blocks up and down Hollywood Blvd.  Likewise, there’s no single parking area for the Walk of Fame either, so…

Thus, we’re mapping to the theoretical heart of Hollywood, Hollywood & Vine.

But honestly, if there’s someone specific you’re looking for, go to Wikipedia.
