I wanna call it Biker Bar, but it’s not. It’s just a good hangout spot in Old Town Pasadena.
Yeah, Barney’s Beanery had me fooled too.
Sorry, it’s the name. Beanery. I mean I expected Coffee Bar…or something involving Coffee. Wouldn’t you?
No, it’s Bar. Kind of a vaguely sorta kinda Biker Bar.
Well, not really.
The crowd that’s there is mostly of your College Sophomore/College Junior variety. You can grab a bite of the latest and greatest in Bar Food (not necessarily a compliment) and have a reasonably price beer while you’re watching ESPN or virtually anything that’s on DirecTV.
Look, it’s perfectly fine. Not the best, not the worst. Perfectly fine.
WHAT SHOULD I GET?: Well, I just had a nice Pabst Blue Ribbon, and that was all I needed. Plus, it was Happy Hour so it wasn’t all that expensive. Foodwise, expect the basics of American Sports Bar Cuisine.
IMPORTANT SAFETY TIP, PEOPLE: Don’t let the Bikes out front fool you. It’s not a Biker Bar. I just looks like a Biker Bar when you step inside (or what you’d imagine a Biker Bar would look like).
Now, this particular Beanery doesn’t have the clean design lines or the elegance of the funkiness of other places, but that’s not really the point is it? You come here because it’s familiar, it’s loud (I know, I know…some people like it like that) and to hang out. That’s what this place really is, a good hang out.
PARKING: Well, you’re not parking on Colorado, that’s for sure. Other than that, consult our Pasadena Parking Map. The Schoolhouse Lot may be your best bet.
