In-N-Out Burger (Burbank)
GD Star Rating
Because in Southern California, that’s what a hamburger’s all about.
If you live in, or have visited Southern California at any point in the last few decades and have not tried an In-N-Out Burger, then I am ashamed of you. Yes, truly and personally ashamed.
Wait a minute. Should I give the vegetarians a break? After all…
…no. Sorry. Not even them. Hell, they can have the fries and a shake. No exceptions!
This is one of the best, if not the best Hamburger chains in all of America. Bar none. What makes it so extraordinary is that the menu really hasn’t changed in lo these many years. Its still the basics. Three kinds of burgers, fries, drinks, shakes…and that’s it. No McTurkey Nuggets, or special barbecue hickory sauce. Nope, your choices are ketchup and…well, ketchup.
Another extraordinary thing is that they’ve stayed mostly local (mostly). There are locations in Utah, Arizona, Nevada and Texas (Dallas), now. Still, the overwhelming number of locations are in California. I guess we should feel lucky that they haven’t appeared in every shopping mall in America. Well, good for them, and good for us, because for all the crap Southern California takes around the nation and the world (the driving, the traffic, the blondes, the moody actors and actresses), this is one thing we can keep (mostly) to ourselves.
WHAT SHOULD I GET?: This is truly a no-brainer. You’re getting a hamburger, but you need to decide how hungry you are. Then select your burger size accordingly. And if you want, you can get it “animal style”. What is animal style, you say?
IMPORTANT SAFETY TIP, PEOPLE: There just is no escaping the fact that during business hours, seven days a week, this place is going to be crowded. There will a big mess of people inside the store, and a big line of people outside the drive through. Doesn’t matter the location.
I will say that the location on Brand Blvd. just outside the Glendale Galleria is at least somewhat easier to get in, as it’s attached to a massive Shopping Mall garage (meaning plenty of parking). And the Location itself is one of the largest I’ve seen, thus it can seat a mess of people. Just sayin’.
PARKING: Terrible. This In-N-Out shares a lot with a small Strip Mall…a Strip Mall that used to house the Virgin Megastore. It was way crowded back then, and hasn’t gotten much better now. You have to really, really, really want an In-N-Out Burger to try to get one here. The Drive Thru snakes through a terribly small parking lot. Sorry, a terrible small and cramped parking lot.
Your best bet…if you really want an In-N-Out Burger, is to park just across the street at the Burbank Media Center, where the AMC Theater and Barnes and Noble is, and walk. Anything else is just asking for trouble.
