Blaze Pizza (Glendale)
GD Star Rating
Make your own Pizza…with help…in the Glendale Galleria.
Did I miss a Restaurant trend or something?
Are…Self Styled Pizza Assembly places all the rages now?
Yes, you heard me.
Pizza Places that are…functionally the equivalent of Subway, where turn to your…Pizza Artist? Is that the term we should use?
Blaze Pizza is the Subway of Pizza joints.
No, that’s not a bad thing believe it or not.
And soon other places like Pizza Rev and Project P.I.E. will be joining them (although it looks like you can get beer and wine at Project P.I.E.)
Well…not a totally bad thing.
The idea of getting a wafer thin pizza baked in a couple of minutes, custom made just for you, may be a bit strange at first, but all things considered, Blaze Pizza isn’t bad.
Am I throwing it over for some of the more high end Pizza places in town? No, probably not.
Would I consider it again if I’m in the Glendale Galleria? Yeah, I would. (At least until Project P.I.E. opens up over at Americana across the street).
As with most places of this sort, you saunter in and go right the counter. You will be led through the process of construction your Pizza by the avalanche of people working behind said counter. I’d try to have a little idea of what you want in advance, but…if you want to wing it as you go, the crew moves fast enough to handle it.
Basically, you make from station to station, laying down your crust, the amount of sauce, then your toppings. Then off your Pizza goes into the oven, while you pay, get your drink and sit down. Simple enough.
Wait until your number is called, then go get your piping hot pie.
Now, the Pizza themselves are…reasonably small enough to finish in one sitting, if you’re decently hungry. If not then I’ve seen a lot of half boxes floating around the Galleria to tell me that Blaze is ready for that eventuality.
So, Pizzas…made to order…and flash cooked. The new trend in the dining world?
Well, as crowded as this new trend is getting…you may have to try it soon. Some of these places aren’t going to last for long.
WHAT SHOULD I GET?: When you roll up to the Counter, you will have a host of Pizza selections to choose from: Meat Lovers, Art Lovers, etc. All with their fancy trademarked names. Then you’ll be came to choose from a variety of sauces and cheeses to add on.
Man. Flashing back to Shop House. Aren’t there Chefs that are supposed to do this thing for us?
Me? I got the Link In, which…and this will come as no surprise to you…involves the adding of Italian Sausage to my Pizza. Italian Sausage, Roasted Red Peppers, Sautéed Onions, Mozzarella, and Red Sauce. In my case, I added a bit more of a Spicy Red Sauce, and a light sprinkling of Feta.
Overall, not bad. Blaze kinda sorta means Spicy when they offer you a Spicy sauce. It doesn’t burn, but you will get a substantial kick. Thank goodness the Sodas come all you can drink.
IMPORTANT SAFETY TIP, PEOPLE: Again, they may sell it as Artisanal Pizza, but it’s not Artisanal Pizza. So, when you’re standing in a short line, please…make up your damn mind. I can’t tell how you many people get up to their “Pizza Artist” and well…ummm…well…umm….
You get the picture?
Just be patient, go through the steps. It’ll be fine. No big deal.
PARKING: Well, since this location is in the Glendale Galleria, you are parking for free. Park near the Macy’s end of the Mall, then head toward Bloomingdales straight ahead. Take the first escalator to your right, and you’re there.
