Is It Any Good?

It’s…Indian in North Hollywood. And it’s…well…fine.

She’s small. That’s goes without saying. From the way she’s laid out, I’d swear Royal Curry was once a Pizza parlor in her former life.

Yeah, the Royal Curry Cafe does seem to be a place designed really to hop in and hop out. It’s not the fanciest of digs. You’re probably not going to bring a date here. You’re probably just just going to get your To-Go order and get on back to wherever you were.

Or, you may be a Food Blogger checking the place out. You know. Whatever.

But it’s not like you can’t sit down in there. It’s a restaurant. You can have lunch there. There are…what? 14 chairs divided over 5 tables?

So, if nothing else it’s cozy.

This is usually the part where I give you a quick walk through of how to get into, and/or “use” the restaurant. You know like an instruction manual. But there ain’t much to how to here. It’s all pretty much straight forward. Call in for your take out orders. Come and sit down for your meal.

Man, there probably won’t even be a Safety Tip for this place.

WHAT SHOULD I GET?: I went (quelle surprise) for the Lunch Special, in this case the Sag Aloo, Spinach and Potatoes. Not bad. Not exactly an gastronomic earthquake either, but not bad. I also got their Vegetable Samosas, which were also good.

Basically, nothing here is setting the culinary world on fire. It’s just good, basic, straight head Indian food. I wish I could go on and on about how awful or great the place is, but the truth of the matter is, it’s fine. It’s worth a look.

IMPORTANT SAFETY TIP, PEOPLE: Once again, it bears repeating. The place is small.

Not only is it small, it’s a bit hard to see from the street. So to make things easier for you (and them), I’m including a second shot of the restaurant so you can know what you’re looking for.)

PARKING: Generally easy. You’re going to be looking for a metered spot along Lankershim. I was lucky and scored one right in front of the restaurant. But meters are your quickest option.
