The Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA)’s Friday night Jazz Concerts continue tonight, featuring the Cannonball-Coltrane Project.
From the LACMA website:
Initially formed as an homage to the 1959 Cannonball Adderley–John Coltrane landmark album, The Cannonball Adderley Quintet in Chicago, the Cannonball/Coltrane Project continues to pay tribute to these two jazz giants with arrangements and original compositions related to or inspired by Cannonball and/or Coltrane. The group has released a number of critically acclaimed recordings that are played on leading jazz stations across the country.
Jazz at LACMA starts every Friday night at 6pm in the BP Grand Pavilion. Tickets are free, no reservations required, but the earlier you show up the better. Parking is available underneath LACMA or across the street (and that might cost you a little bit).
Food options, as well as Sangria, Beer and other adult beverages (and non-adult beverages) will be on sale. Ray and Stark Bar will be open as well. LACMA has started to ask that we not bring outside alcohol, or glass bottles to the event. The food trucks along Wilshire Avenue will be there until an hour or two before showtime. You can also bring your own picnic, as well as your own chair or blankets.
