The Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA)’s Friday night Jazz Concerts continues TOMORROW NIGHT, featuring MONK’estra.

From the LACMA website:

Led by conductor/arranger John Beasley, the 15-piece modern jazz band MONK’estra captures the spirit of Thelonious Monk’s unique quirkiness. Offbeat accents and punchy dissonances can be found in MONK’estra’s fresh arrangements of Monk’s and other classic and original compositions. Beasley’s contemporary twist incorporates Afro-Cuban rhythms, modern jazz, hip hop, big-band instrumentation, and stunningly atmospheric ensemble textures, all powerfully driven by a propulsive rhythm section.

Jazz at LACMA starts every Friday night at 6pm in the BP Grand Pavilion. Tickets are free, no reservations required, but the earlier you show up the better. Parking is available underneath LACMA or across the street (and that might cost you a little bit).

Food options, as well as Sangria, Beer and other adult beverages (and non-adult beverages) will be on sale. Ray and Stark Bar will be open as well.  LACMA has started to ask that we not bring outside alcohol, or glass bottles to the event.  The food trucks along Wilshire Avenue will be there until an hour or two before showtime. You can also bring your own picnic, as well as your own chair or blankets.
