The Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA)’s Friday night Jazz Concerts continue tonight, featuring Julie Kelly.
From the LACMA website:
Jazzed Media is excited to announce the release of vocalist Julie Kelly’s eighth recording, Happy to Be, featuring some of the top West Coast jazz musicians, including Bob Sheppard, Bob McChesney, Nick Mancini, Tom Warrington, and Walter Rodriguez. “Great tone, magnificent phrasing and the innate ability to sing with the band and nat around them has Happy to Be one of the more entertaining vocal releases this year,” says Critical Jazz. Kelly has performed at venues such as the Palm Springs Women’s Jazz Festival, Sunset Jazz at Newport Summer Series, and North Coast Brewing.
Jazz at LACMA starts every Friday night at 6pm in the BP Grand Pavilion. Tickets are free, no reservations required, but the earlier you show up the better. Parking is available underneath LACMA or across the street (and that might cost you a little bit).
Food options, as well as Sangria, Beer and other adult beverages (and non-adult beverages) will be on sale. Ray and Stark Bar will be open as well. LACMA has started to ask that we not bring outside alcohol, or glass bottles to the event. The food trucks along Wilshire Avenue will be there until an hour or two before showtime. You can also bring your own picnic, as well as your own chair or blankets.
