Where the Rich and Republican live and play.  Orange County being the only place in Southern California where you’ll still see a lot of John McCain for President T-shirts and bumper stickers.  Despite that it is GORGEOUS.

Santa Monica Pier

Walking distance from Third Street Promenade.  It’s a nice place jutting out over the ocean.  It’s got a few snacks, swag shops, and is way over the water which is supposed to be a little foul near Santa Monica.

Venice Beach

If you want to see the place where the stereotype of California Culture springs from, you need a roll through Venice Beach.  Muscle Beach.  People acting freaky and weird.  Venice Beach is for you.

Zuma Beach

If you want to go see a really, really spectacular L.A. Beach, either head south (way south) to Laguna where the wealthy live and play, or head North to slightly closer Zuma State Park, which is just lovely.
