If you really understand photography but practice it as a hobby or cover the occasional event. this camera is for you. It is a good compromise between Pro capability and quick usability for the not so tech savvy, while giving you excellent results in auto mode.
If you are just starting out as a pro, this is good from the standpoint that it works with ALL Nikon F mount lens, even those from the 1960!! So finding a compatible low cost lens is a breeze.
However for the pro, the grain @ 1600 ISO is not pretty at all, but a better, faster lens would make for better photos at lower ISO's

What's good: Great performance, Works with all Nikon Lenses (Fmount)
What's bad: Noisy for professionals
