Dyson DC19 Cylinder Vacuum cleaner

Image of Dyson DC19 Cylinder Vacuum cleaner

A fairly expensive and much-hyped vacuum cleaner. It is supposed to be better than a normal hoover, and certainly has more features, such as being bagless, and having a HEPA allergy filter which supposedly expels air cleaner than we normally breath. It's also very fancy-looking, and futeristic, but does it actually work? It is as powerful as everyone says?

Mine is the one designed for pets. It has a slightly better filter apparently...

Dyson DC19 Cylinder Vacuum cleaner
Have just purchased the Dyson DC19 after a few years with an upright Dyson which I found heavy and awkward to manouvre although it did have a strong suction and cleaned well. I have a home with a mix of carpeted, laminate wood floors and some cushionflor and wanted a lighter cylinder model that would easily go from one to another without having to change heads. This model so far seems great. It is very easy to manouvre, not too heavy for my bad back, cleans really well and the slim head makes getting under furniture, beds etc really easy. It has a long extending hose which saves too much bending and the tools fit simply onto the main body and not the hose like my last one where they could be easily knocked off. The cord rewind is fine and means it can be tidily stored away except that the long hose does mean it is a little awkward for storing the vacuum in a small cupboard or under the stairs.

What's good: The variety of tools included.
What's bad: The power cable is too short!
Is it any good? Verdict: y

Why is your "review" an exact, word-for-word copy of a review on Amazon.co.uk posted in Dec 2007 by a Mrs. D. Bowers (Northumberland,uk)??? Very odd, indeed.

Dyson DC19 Cylinder Vacuum cleaner
This vacuum cleaner stops working altogether ... Probably something to do with an over active safety cutout, because when you gently tug at the cord (which incidentally is nowhere near its end stop) you can sometimes get it to suck again. And yes it has been to the Dyson repair people. This is very annoying!

What's good: none!
What's bad: 1) It's heavy and bulky 2) The hose often gets tangled up and loses suction 3) The drum gets clogged
Is it any good? Verdict: n
